9 Mass Shootings which Shook the World

This is not going to be a happy post.

Mass shootings happen all too often, and especially so in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I mean, what do you expect to happen when you create a hyper-competitive, every man for himself society and then make it as easy to buy an assault rifle as it is to buy a sandwich?

That being said, America is not the only place where mass shootings have occurred. The only major difference is the other places in which these tragic events happened took immediate action to stop them from happening again, and voila, they stopped.

Mass shootings are a sickening reminder of the dark side of the human soul. Nobody wants to see them happen, yet they continue to do so on an almost monthly basis.

Let this list post serve as a stark reminder that the NRA and gun lobbies have a LOT of innocent blood on their hands. How they sleep at night is beyond us here at 9Stein HQ, but then again, perhaps pure evil does not require as much sleep as the everyday man or woman.

As we take this sad and shocking trip down memory lane, ask yourselves this question: is the right to bear arms really worth it….really?

9 Mass Shootings Which Shook the World

Dunblane (1996)

Mass shootings are sickening enough, but when they involve innocent school children they are utterly unthinkable.

On 13th March 1999, a suspected pedophile and sexual predator named Thomas Hamilton walked into a primary school in Dunblane, Scotland and shot 16 school-children to death before turning the gun on himself.

After public outcry and an official inquiry which led to the Cullen Report, private ownership of firearms was banned in the UK. No further mass shooting have occurred since (hint, hint, Uncle Sam).

Columbine (1999)

Who in the world does not know of the Columbine Massacre?

On April 20th, 1999 two disgruntled students, Eric Harris, and Dylan Klebold, walked into their high school in Columbine, Colorado and massacred 13 fellow students and faculty members, before killing themselves. They also injured a further 24 people in a reign of sheer carnage which involved multiple firearms, automatic weapons, exploding propane gas tanks, several knives, and 99 explosives.

Both perpetrators killed themselves. Multiple motives have been established including bullying,  depression, goth subculture and music.

Virginia Tech (2007)

When it comes to the sheer body count, there is no attack in the history of the US which matches that of the Virginia Tech Massacre which took place on April 16th, 2007.

Seung-Hui Cho, a senior at the school, who had previously been diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder, opened fire on fellow students in two attacks over a two hour period. With a total of 32 dead and 17 injured, this is the single deadliest attack in U.S history and even goes down as one of the deadliest worldwide.

Of course, before he had to face the music for what he had done, Cho killed himself. Does anyone sense  a recurring theme here? Hmmmm……

Fort Hood (2009)

Nadil Mailk Hassan decided on November 5th, 2009 that he had seen quite enough of US foreign policy and was switching to the other side.

He decided to make his statement by walking onto Fort Hood army base, where he had previously been a psychiatrist (yes, we’re serious),  and fatally shooting 13 people, wounding 30 others.

In this case, Hassan was shot in the back and paralyzed from the waist down before he had the chance to do any more damage. He was court marshaled and sentenced to death in April 2013.

Aurora (2012)

It’s not every day you go out to watch a movie and get yourself blown the smithereens by a psychopath with an automatic weapon who has decided to make a large statement. Yet on July 20th, 2012 that’s exactly what happened to 12 innocent residents of Aurora, Colorado.

James Eagen Holmes was a loner who had other plans in mind than catching The Dark Knight Rises when he entered the theatre armed to the teeth, setting off tear gas canisters and shooting into the audience with multiple firearms.

This is the mass shooting which caused the most casualties, although not the most fatalities. Holmes twisted tale injured 70 movie-goers while killing 12. He also planned to do further damage by rigging his entire apartment with explosives, although the bomb squad managed to diffuse them.

Holmes managed to escape the death penalty by pleading insanity but was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole on August 7th this year.

We’re sure there’s a special place in hell for the dark knight himself, he’ll just have to wait a little longer before he gets there.

Sandy Hook (2012)

2012 was a particularly sick year and the Sandy Hook massacre just took things to a whole new level as far as mass shootings and twisted minds go.

On December 14th, 2012, just as the Christmas holidays were approaching, a sick, depraved individual by the name of Adam Lanza entered Sandy Hook Elementary School and massacred 26 people, 20 of whom were grade-school children. He had shot and killed his mother before making the drive out to the school. After he was done with his victims, he turned the gun on himself, as is typical of cowards who kill children.

Sandy Hook still didn’t do it for the NRA though. If only those little children had been armed with assault weapons, maybe they could have defended themselves!

This unspeakable mass shooting says it all, really.

We’ve already expressed our displeasure towards those who harm innocent children, but since this takes things to a different level, so will we: SCREW YOU, ADAM LANZA, WE HOPE YOUR FILTHY SOUL BURNS FOR ALL ETERNITY IN THE FIREY BOWELS OF HELL!

Norwegian Massacre

Take a xenophobic, anti-immigrant racist nut-job, arm him to the teeth and allow him on the loose on an island full of teenagers and children and what do you get? A bloodbath unmatched in European history outside the World Wars!

On 22nd July 2011 Anders Behring Breivik set off a bomb outside a government building in Oslo. While police and emergency services were busy responding and figuring out what had happened, he went to the island of Utoya, where a group of politically affiliated youth were having a summer retreat, and massacred 69 people.

The Norwegian authorities quickly identified Breivik as the right-wing extremist responsible for the attacks. In a testament to lenient European laws for even the most heinous crimes, Breivik was only sentenced to 21 years in prison. The sentence can be continued indefinitely if he is deemed to still be a threat to society (as if mass murders who kill children can change).

Breivik’s defence centred around self-defence or acts of necessity. He claimed that the political party with which the youth were affiliated were a threat to Norway and its sovereignty and that he has been acting as a patriot in the best interests of the future of the nation.

Yeah, because kids and teenagers are such a big boogie man and are clearly top of the list of threats to a nation. What a brave patriotic warrior this man must have been to take guns and go to war against the unarmed and underaged!

Isla Vista, California (2014)

What do you get when you mix a sexually frustrated, angry young man with severe mental problems and put guns in his hands?

Yup, you guessed it – carnage!

Elliot Rodger actually uploaded a Youtube video outlining his motives for his upcoming attack. He wanted to punish females for rejecting him and sexually active males for living a more enjoyable life than him.

On May 23rd, 2014 he did just that. He first stabbed 3 men to death in his apartment, then drove to a sorority house where he shot 3 women, killing 2, before carrying on his campaign of chaos by driving into town and shooting at residents going about their daily business.

Police exchanged multiple rounds of fire with Rodger before he crashed his car into a parked vehicle and decided to end his virginal life by shooting himself in the head.

Another sad ending to a losers life, but even sadder for those he maimed and killed who did nothing to deserve it except in his mentally unstable, wanton mind.

Charleston Church (2015)

This one is a little too recent to be remembered with any degree of detachment or emotional distance.

On the evening of June 27, 2015, worshipers at a Charleston, South Carolina church invited Dylan Roof into their sanctuary to pray with them. While this was an African-American church and Roof was white, he was still welcomed and invited to join the service.

Little did those innocent worshippers know they had just invited a psychopathic, racist killer into their place of peace. Dylan Roof opened fire, killing 9 people including a senior pastor.

Roof took off but was arrested the next day while driving towards another state. Roof was arrested and admitted the shooting, claiming he had been trying to start a race war.

This is a tragedy only compounded by the sheer ignorance and stupidity which spawned it. If only Dylan Roof has ever spent the time getting to know an African-American or talking to them this terrible event never would have taken place. Alas, he did not, and so it is with a heavy heart that we have to round off this list post and bring it to a close with a killing inspired by possibly the most ignorant, disgusting trait a human being can possess: racism.

Will these killings continue? Do you support liberal, uncontrolled gun laws?

Is it really worth it? Really?

    1. Calm down mate, everybody is entitled to an opinion. And you wonder why it’s unsafe for people to have access to automatic weapons when you go from 0-100 in 2 seconds after reading an article?
